Fix: There Was An Error Connecting To The Apple ID Server

After updating to iOS 8, several users are facing problems while trying to restore from their backups and sign into the iCloud. When this problem occurs, generally the users get the error notification- “Verification failed: There was an error connecting to the Apple ID Server.”

This problem doesn’t occur due to the wrong password. Even if you enter the accurate login credentials, the error may show up whenever you are trying to open the iCloud application.

Effective Solutions to Fix “There Was an Error Connecting to the Apple ID Server”

There are some easy ways to solve this issue. You can perform the below hacks to get rid of this problem. 

Before going to perform the below hacks, you need to check the internet connection. If the device is connected with a poor internet connection, it may trigger the error to appear. After checking the internet connection, you can perform the hacks stated below: 

Fix 1: Restart the iOS device or Mac

As we know that several technical errors can be fixed by a simple restart. Hence, if the “Verification failed: There was an error connecting to the Apple ID Servererror is occurring on the system, it’s practical to restart the Mac or iOS device you are using. 

After restarting the device, if you see that the error is still there, then you can perform the other hacks described below.  

Fix 2: Update Date and Time

If the date and time are set incorrectly, then it might be the reason behind this problem. Hence, make sure that the date and time are set correctly on your device. To do this, you can follow the below steps: 

  1. First of all, open the Settings. 
  2. Go to the General tab. 
  3. Tap on the ‘Date & Time’ option. 
  4. Afterward, turn the ‘Toggle Set Automatically’ option On and choose the right time zone. 

Now, restart the device and check if the error is fixed. Otherwise, go to the next solution provided below.

If you are using a wireless connection, then you can log out and then log into the Wi-Fi account to check if it can help you to get rid of this error. To perform this, you can follow the steps given below: 

  1. In the beginning, open the Settings application and tap on the ‘Wi-Fi’ option. 
  2. Afterward, tap on the Info button near to the Wi-Fi network. Next, tap on the ‘Forget This Network’ option. 
  3. Confirm it by tapping on the Forget button. 
  4. Now, turn the Wi-Fi off. Wait for a few seconds and turn the Wi-Fi on. 
  5. Afterward, it will show the wireless network. Tap on it. 
  6. Lastly, enter the password for the wireless network and tap on the ‘Login’ button. 

After completing the above steps, you can go back to the iCloud to try to sign in again. 

Fix 4: Reset the Network Settings

Another workaround you can perform is to reset the Network Settings to get rid of the error notification “Verification failed: There was an error connecting to the Apple ID Server.” To do this, you can perform the steps as follows: 

  • First and foremost, go to Settings and navigate to the General section. 
  • Scroll down the page and tap on the Reset button. 
  • Next, select the ‘Reset Network Settings’ option. It will prompt you to enter the password. 
  • Once you type the password, it will open a pop-up dialog box. Confirm the action by tapping on the ‘Reset Network Settings’ option. 

After resetting the network settings, if you see that the error message still showing up, you can change the Apple ID Password to solve this problem.

Fix 5: Change the Apple ID Password

If the password of your iDevice have become old, then it fails to meet the recommendation for the Strength of Apple. It may cause the verification problem. You can change it easily from any iDevice using a secure internet connection: 

How to Change the Apple ID Password? 

  1. In the beginning, visit the official website of Apple. 
  2. Thereafter, click on the ‘Manage your Apple ID’ option and tap on the ‘Sign in’ button to sign in to your account. 
  3. Now, type the Apple ID and its password. 
  4. Navigate to the ‘Password and Security’ section from the left pane of the screen. 
  5. Verify your identity by answering the security question (here you can also type the code sent on your mobile device by Apple).  
  6. Now, tap on the ‘Change Password’ button. 
  7. Enter the old (current) password on the next page and select a new one (reenter the same password on the ‘Verify Password’ field). 
  8. Once the process completes, update the password on all your iDevices.
