  • You have to get to the Steam root folder. If any change has not been made while installing the Steam client, you should select Local Disk then choose Program File.
  • On your device, if you find the shortcut of the Steam program, you have to select the Open file location from the Context menu. 
  • Copy the Steam.exe executable, right-clicking on it, so that it will be selected when the Steam folder will open. 
  • Next, you have to find the problematic game’s library folder. To get there you have to select Steam, then choose Steamapps and then choose Common.
  • Paste the Steam.exe executable, inside this window, by selecting the Paste option from the Context menu.

The locations will be referred to as <SteamFolder> and <GameFolder>  and you have to use the above commands instead.

  • Open the Start menu and type “Command Prompt” and hit the Enter button. Select the option “Run as administrator”.
  • You can also open the Run dialog box, pressing the Windows key and the R key together. 
  • Then, you have to type “cmd” there, and run Command Prompt with admin privileges pressing the Ctrl key, Shift key and Enter key together.
  • Now, put the commands: 

                cd “<GameFolder>”

                Mklink “steam.exe” “<SteamFolder>\steam.exe”

You have to hit the Enter button after each of these commands. If it worked properly, you will see a message saying “Operation completed successfully” on your device.

Note: You cannot miss the question marks and there will be a backlash with the steam.exe text just after the SteamFolder.

Method 4: Check the Game Files’ Integrity

This procedure can fix most of the errors of Steam games. You can download the missing or faulty files again using this method. Follow the steps given below:

  • You have to double-click on the entry of the Steam app to get into it. Or you can also type “Steam” on the search menu to do that.
  • Get into the Library tab that you will find in the Steam client.
