Before trying any solution, first, you should unplug and replug the controller to the device.

Step 1

Press the Windows and R keys together simultaneously on the keyboard to launch the Run dialog box.

After that, enter ‘ devmgmt.msc’ in the Run field and hit the Enter key on the keyboard. This will lead to the Device Manager. 

Step 2

In the Device Manager, scroll down and select Microsoft Xbox one controller. After that, right-click on it and choose Update Driver Software option.

Then, select ‘Search automatically for updated driver software’ option. Now, Windows will start to install the new drivers.

 Then, check the status of the error and if the problem still persists, then perform the following.

  • Within the Device Manager, right-click on the Microsoft Xbox One Controller and then click on Update Driver Software option.
  • Next, select Browse My Computer for Driver Software button. 
  • Then, mark the box next to the ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’ option. 
  • In the next window, select Microsoft Xbox one controller and afterward click on the Next button.

Finally, exit from the page and reboot your computer and if the Xbox is still unable to connect with the PC, then try the next remedy.

Windows has many inbuilt troubleshooters available. These troubleshooters can be used for resolving many problems. To run it, press the Windows and I keys together to open the Settings app.

When the Settings app starts, move to the Update & Security section.  On the next window, move to the left and choose Troubleshoot from the given options.

After that, select Hardware and Devices and click on “Run the Troubleshooter” option. After completion of the troubleshooting process, check if the issue still persists or not.

Then, click on Check for updates button that is located in the right panel. In case, any update is available, it will be downloaded in the background. Then, restart the computer to install them. 

Once your system is up to date, check if the issue is resolved.

In order to do so, first, click on the Start icon and type ‘control panel’ within the given field and press the Enter key to open it. Then, move to the System section.

In addition, click on the Hardware tab and thereafter open Device manager. Furthermore, select Universal Serial Bus Controllers to highlight and choose the USB components that is required to be updated.

Next, right-click on the highlighted section and choose Update Driver Software Wizard to update the USB drivers.

After that, restart the computer and hopefully the above solutions should fix the problem if implemented properly.
