What Is Steam Cloud And How To Disable It?

Steam Cloud provides a transparent and easy remote file storage for the game. Gamers can use it to store various types of data including profile stats, save games, game settings and another user-specific bit.

You can also save the Steam client settings via the Cloud including friends nicknames, collections, or anything that is changed using the Settings menu of Steam Cloud

Such settings will continue on another account regardless of which system you are logged into. Because these settings are obtained from the Cloud while logging in to the system.

Hence, if a user changes the system, the gaming files are downloaded to the new computer automatically while launching the game. Then, the game becomes able to access those files by reading them and by using the Cloud API feature or directly from the hard disk.

Different Methods of Using the Steam Cloud:

Steam provides two ways to use the Steam Cloud application and these are:

Steam Cloud API:

The Cloud API offers a function series that allows the users to integrate the Steam Cloud directly into the game. It also can isolate individual Steam user files from each other and also offer better control over the entire Steam Cloud.

Steam Auto-Cloud:

Steam Auto-cloud is specifically designed for the legacy gaming platform where it is difficult to use the Cloud API feature. It’s a better and faster way to get started with the Steam Cloud. But Steam Auto-cloud lacks the power and flexibility provided by Steam Cloud API.

Hence, it’s always better to use the Cloud API instead of using the Steam Auto-cloud as it offers effective and deeper customization and integration. It also allows the users to get the most out of the Steam Cloud
