[Solved] VAC was Unable To Verify The Game Session Error

Counter-Strike Global Offensive often encounter ‘VAC was unable to verify the game session’ error message while matchmaking. 

Most of the time, due to the corrupt game files, issues with the Steam client, you might see this error message. The outdated device driver can also lead to this glitch and as a result, the players can not able to make matches. This can be a difficult situation for them. 

If you are among the game lovers, then don’t panic, as the problem can be solved easily. 

Easy Hacks to Resolve VAC was Unable to Verify the Game Session Issue:

Here are the fixes that you can apply to get rid of the error.

Solution 1- Check the Game Files

If there is an integrity issue is created with the CS: Go file, then this may lead to this warning message. To overcome the situation, you have to check the game file with the steam client. 

To do so, first, move to the Steam client and click on the Library to open it. Under Library, scroll down and right-click on the game. Choose Properties from the available option.

Next, select the Local files tab and tick on the box beside the Verify Integrity of Game Files. Wait for sometimes and let the process complete. Next, tap on the Close button. Finally, launch the Game and check the status of the error message.

Solution 2- Restart the Steam Client

If there is some problem with the Steam client, then you might have to deal with this error. Hence, it is always better to restart the Steam client. In order to do so, check out the following steps.

  • Proceed to the Steam client and in the left corner, you will see the Steam appearing option. Tap on it.  
  • Now, a drop-down list might occur on the screen. From there, choose the Exit option from the available list.
  • Again, open the Steam Client and tap on Steam. Lots of options will now appear on the screen. From there, select the Go Offline. Then click on the Restart In Offline Mode option.
  • Again, proceed to the Steam and after that, you have to click on the Go Offline option. 
  • Next, click on the Restart option. 
  • After rebooting, open the game and try to make matches.

Solution 3- Repair the Steam Client 

If the above two solutions are unable to fix the error, then you are suggested to run the Steam Client as Administrator.

For that, first, move to the left corner of the Steam client and click on the Steam option. From the available options, click on Exit.

After that, click on the Start icon and enter ‘cmd’ in the search field. Also, hit the Enter key to move to the Control Panel. Once Control Panel opens, right-click on it and select Run as Administrator.

Now, within the Command Prompt, enter the following command and hit the Enter key.

‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe” /repair’. 

If the Game file is in a different location, then you have to change the location. The repairing procedure might take some time so you should wait. Once completed, then run the Steam client and open the game. 

However, if the error message still pops up on the screen, then have a look at the next solution.

Solution 4- Upgrade the Device Drivers

This task can be performed either manually or automatically. 

How to Manually Update the Device Drivers?

First, move to the Settings part. Here, you have to drop down and select the Update & Security option. Next, mark the box beside the Check Update and wait for the completion of the procedure.

Also, navigate to the Control Panel. From there, choose Hardware and Sound. After that, click on the Device Manager. Within the Device Manager, you will see the faulty driver with a yellow sign. After that, right-click on it and choose the Update Driver option. 

Solution 5- Run the Steam Client as Administrator

Sometimes, after running the Steam client as Administrator, you might fix the VAC was unable to verify the game session problem. In order to do so, first, move to the Steam Library and after that, right-click on the game.

Then, move to Properties and after that, select the Local file tabs. Thereafter, click on the Browse Local Files. 

Afterward, you have to locate the game executable. Next, right-click on it to see its Properties. Then, click on the Compatibility tab and on the dialog box next to the ‘Run this Program as an administrator’.

Solution 6- Disable the Third-Party Software

According to users, after disabling or uninstalling third-party software, you can get rid of the problem. Simply move to third-party software and disable it for some time.

Alternatively, go to the Control Panel. From there, proceed to the Programs. Then, click on the Uninstall a Program button. It will open the Programs and Features window. Here, locate the third-party software and right-click on it to select the Uninstall button.

Solution 7- Reinstall CS: GO

In case, none of the above solutions work, you are advised to reinstall the CS: GO. To do so, launch the Steam and move to the Library. Then, right-click on the ‘Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.’ After that, click on Uninstall.

On the Next window that pops up, click on Delete. Now, you have to reinstall the CS: GO. For that, visit the official website and follow the online instructions to complete the installation process.

After reinstalling the CS: GO, ‘Vac was unable to verify the game session’ error message will not appear on the display anymore.
