Want To Change TikTok Country? It’s Easy As A Pie!

TikTok has taken the world by storm, with more than 700 million users worldwide. The beauty of the Internet (and TikTok) is that you can communicate instantly with anyone you’d like, anywhere in the world. TikTok wants users to find audiences nearby, though (potentially for future advertising reasons) which is why they’ve gotten rid of the option to change TikTok country or for users to choose their own region. If you want to know how to change the region on TikTok, this is the right place to start.

Why Change Your Region on Tik Tok?

There are a number of reasons why someone would want to change TikTok location. Perhaps you are an expat, and you want to speak to your audience in your home country. Maybe you are producing content for a specific region and want to reach advertisers abroad rather than locally. Whatever your reasons, TikTok doesn’t make this easy. They didn’t mention that they would remove the option to change TikTok region in their update logs and seem to have removed it entirely.

Yes, that’s right. Tik Tok app Change Region functionality is completely gone.

This means that the app will choose your region by using your IP address or geolocation. You no longer have the option of choosing your own region, which means that your content will display to others in your location first.

While this is ostentatiously to ensure that content is more relevant to TikTok users, it doesn’t help content creators that want to build a following in a specific country. You’ll have to use another method of changing your location if you want to reach a specific region.

How To Change Region on TikTok in 2021

Don’t worry, there are a few common ways of getting around the new system. Here are a few:

1. Change Language

Just like Google and Facebook, TikTok wants to display relevant content to its users. The more relevant, the more likely that users will come back for more, right? While this first hack doesn’t 100% solve the location problem, you can change your language setting manually as a quick fix. If you are based in the US, but would like to reach a French audience, you can change your language to French. You won’t necessarily be broadcast exclusively in France because there are hundreds of countries where French is a popular national language, but you are much more likely to reach France than the States.

To change your language, go to TikTok and select the Me button in the right-hand corner. Tap on the three dots in the upper corner. Select Content Preferences under “Account” and add the native language of the region you are looking for.

It won’t be as targeted as the location option before, but it will certainly narrow things down.

2. Use a VPN

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It’s a virtual tunnel that protects your data and IP address from others. Many TikTokkers have been using VPNs to access the site because it is banned in their home country. There are free VPNs out there, but it’s best to use a paid VPN for optimal results.  You’ll have to download a VPN app to your computer or mobile phone to get started. Then, you’ll need to set up your VPN account with credit card details. Once you are set up, you’ll connect to the VPN server. Most VPNs have dozens or even hundreds of locations to choose from. Choose the location you want to reach, and then log into TikTok! You will have to make sure that you set your region every time you log in and upload content to consistently reach the right audience.

3. Change Your Device SIM card

If you want a quick fix, try obtaining a SIM card from the country you would like to reach. You can simply switch up SIMs every time you want to access TikTok or upload new videos.

Now that you know how to change Region on TikTok, the world truly is your oyster. Change your region on TikTok using these methods, and you can speak to the exact audience you want to, no matter where you are located.
